About the Project
Leaving a Legacy seeks to preserve the history of East Spencer and the historic Dunbar School while documenting a new chapter of community revitalization and economic opportunity.
Position Summary
The Historical Research participant will help uncover, organize, and preserve historical information that supports the documentary's storytelling and educational value.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in history, African American studies, archives, public history, education, library science, or research.
Responsibilities
• Research the history of East Spencer and Dunbar School
• Identify historical photographs and archival materials
• Assist in developing documentary timelines
• Support interview preparation with historical context
• Research community leaders and significant milestones
• Assist with alumni outreach and historical preservation efforts
• Organize research findings for documentary production
