UrbanPromise Nashville is a faith-based nonprofit serving refugee and immigrant youth in Nashville. Our mission is to help refugee and immigrant youth step into their God-given story.
A unique part of our model is the StreetLeader program, which employs high school students to serve as mentors and role models for younger children in our afterschool and summer programs. StreetLeaders gain leadership and job experience while receiving mentoring, academic support, leadership development, and college and career guidance.

Position Summary
The StreetLeader Coordinator is responsible for supporting the growth and development of 15-20 UrbanPromise Nashville’s high school StreetLeaders throughout the school year and summer camp.
This role focuses on helping StreetLeaders thrive academically, personally, professionally, and spiritually. The StreetLeader Coordinator serves as a mentor, advocate, and resource while helping remove barriers that may prevent students from reaching their goals. This role reports to the Executive Director(s).
Time Commitment & Compensation
- Part-Time: 20–25 hours per week
- Compensation: $21–25 per hour, depending on experience
- Flexible schedule with required onsite hours during programming
- School-Year Afterschool Program: Monday–Thursday, 2:00–6:00 PM
- Summer Camp (July): Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Additional hours may be scheduled for mentoring meetings, college visits, family communication, and special events
- Programming operates approximately 42 weeks per year
Key Responsibilities
Student Mentoring & Family Support
- Build strong mentoring relationships with StreetLeaders
- Serve as the primary contact for StreetLeader families
- Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins regarding goals, challenges, and personal growth
- Collaborate with StreetLeader families to support student success
- Support students in developing leadership, communication, and workplace skills
Academic Success
- Monitor grades, attendance, and academic progress
- Coordinate tutoring and academic support when needed
- Help students establish goals and accountability systems
- Connect students with educational resources and opportunities
College & Career Readiness
- Serve as the primary contact with Student Prep Services, UrbanPromise Nashville’s college counseling partner
- Organize college visits and career exploration opportunities
- Assist students with college applications, FAFSA completion, scholarships, and financial aid
- Support career planning and workforce development opportunities
- Build partnerships that expand opportunities for StreetLeaders
StreetLeader Accountability, Retention & Recruitment
- Monitor StreetLeader retention, attendance, and participation in required events
- Support StreetLeader evaluations with a focus on job habits, communication, attendance, participation, and engagement
- Collaborate with the Site Supervisor on performance concerns and development plans
- Recruit and help onboard new StreetLeaders
Program Support
- Support StreetLeaders before, during, and after summer camp programming
- Participate in StreetLeader training and leadership development initiatives
- Support special events, retreats, and family engagement opportunities
- Collaborate closely with the Site Supervisor and leadership team

Success in this role is measured by the growth, engagement, and long-term development of StreetLeaders.
- StreetLeaders remain engaged in the program, demonstrate strong attendance, and actively participate in required trainings and events.
- Students make progress toward academic, college, career, and personal goals through consistent feedback, encouragement, and coaching.
- StreetLeaders and their families experience strong communication, trust, and meaningful support.
- Students demonstrate growth in leadership, communication, job readiness, and personal responsibility.
- StreetLeaders graduate from the program with a clearer sense of direction and increased confidence in their future.
Qualifications
- Experience mentoring teenagers or young adults
- Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple students and support systems simultaneously
- Experience with college access, academic support, youth development, or case management preferred
- Passion for youth development and immigrant communities
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Comfortable working within a Christian faith-based organization.
