Family Law Paralegal

Family Law Paralegal Position

About the Role

We are a leading two-attorney family law firm seeking an experienced paralegal to join our family law team. This is a high-ownership role — you will handle substantive legal drafting, client communication, client support, and case management from start to finish. If you enjoy professional development and prefer real responsibility over administrative busy-work, this position will keep you engaged.

What You’ll Do

  • Draft and finalize legal documents, including petitions, motions, stipulations, financial declarations, and correspondence
  • Manage active caseloads across divorce, custody, support, and protective order matters
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff on scheduling, filings, and deadlines
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files in compliance with firm procedures
  • E-file documents in Utah state courts and ensure all deadlines are calendared and met
  • Anticipate attorney needs and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Utah district court procedures and e-filing systems
  • Good written communication skills — you will be drafting, not just formatting
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy docket independently
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software (Clio or similar)
  • Professional demeanor in sensitive, emotionally charged client situations
  • ABA-approved paralegal certificate or paralegal studies degree preferred, equivalent experience considered. A bachelor’s degree is also valued.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Genuine ownership of your work. Employee work is valued and directly shapes client outcomes
  • Small firm culture with no bureaucratic layers
  • Exposure to a full range of complex family law matters
  • Paid time off and firm holidays
  • Participation in the firm's retirement plan
  • Firm bonuses.
  • Paid health insurance for employees
