Gala, Dinner and Auction Chair
Powered By Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in grassroots action. Our mission is to translate "Love in Action" into systemic stability by delivering essential resources at scale to economically vulnerable and unhoused communities, recognizing and supporting their inherent humanity.
The Opportunity: The 831 Experience
Note: Must be local to Arizona
We are offering an intensive, high-visibility Student Leadership Residency for a creative and meticulous hospitality strategist to serve as the Gala, Dinner & Auction Chair (our "Master Host") for The 831 Experience. Taking place on October 12th, 2026 in Phoenix, AZ, this high-impact community restoration event serves exactly 75 unhoused guests alongside 75 volunteer navigators.
Role Purpose
As the "Master Host," you will take absolute ownership of designing, scripting, and executing the premium celebratory tracks of the project. This includes orchestrating the logistical "Run of Show" for our October 12th Sponsor Dinner and planning the minute-by-minute choreography for our October 17th Gala at Nelson Hall. This is a local/hybrid role: programmatic planning and item cataloging can be managed flexibly online, but you must be physically present on-site in Phoenix to call the shows and run the live events in October.
Core Responsibilities
- Gala Program Choreography: Plan and script the minute-by-minute Nelson Hall Gala program, coordinating live cues directly with the band, the caterer, and our Sanctuary Liaison.
- Donor Dinner Execution: Coordinate the full logistical "Run of Show" for the October 12th Sponsor Dinner, including handling staging and A/V requirements for our keynote and live performance.
- High-Value Auction Procurement: Manage the outreach, collection, and cataloging of luxury silent and live charity auction items (e.g., designer goods, private dinners, travel packages).
- Interactive Bidding Management: Implement and oversee mobile bidding and automated checkout tools (e.g., Givebutter Plus) to maximize fundraising layout efficiency and eliminate long guest lines.
- Team Mobilization: Recruit and lead a dedicated sub-committee of 3–4 specialized volunteers to help hit a fundraising target of $10,000+ from the charity auction.
Job Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate majoring in Hospitality Management, Event Production, Tourism, Public Relations, Culinary Business, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience working in event coordination, luxury hospitality, or fundraising banquets (student club leadership, large-scale campus events, or prior internships are highly acceptable).
- Extreme attention to detail with an ability to manage intricate, time-coded scripts and "Run of Show" logistics.
- Strong digital comfort, specifically with modern fundraising mobile applications, spreadsheet management, and basic A/V vocabulary.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with high-value corporate donors, venue staff, and local musical talent.
