Inspire the Next Generation of Scientists – Join Young STEAMers as a STEAM Instructor Intern

Are you passionate about science, technology, engineering, art, and math? Do you enjoy working with children and inspiring the next generation of innovators? 

Young STEAMers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making hands-on STEAM education accessible to children from underserved communities across the San Francisco Bay Area. Through engaging, inquiry-based activities, we help students discover that science and engineering are exciting, creative, and within their reach 

We are seeking enthusiastic STEAM Instructor Interns to join our team for the upcoming school year. This is an excellent opportunity for college students, recent graduates, aspiring educators, and STEM professionals looking to gain teaching experience while making a meaningful impact in their community. 

What You’ll Do

• Lead hands-on, interactive STEAM lessons for students ages 4–14
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
• Inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners
• Serve as a mentor and positive role model
• Collaborate with our instructional team to deliver high-quality programming
• Participate in training, coaching, and professional development opportunities

What We’re Looking For

• Background or strong interest in STEM, education, or related fields 
• Experience working with children through teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camps, after-school programs, or volunteer work
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills  
• Reliable, professional, and enthusiastic
• Ability to travel to program locations throughout the Bay Area 
• Available to start in August
• Availability to begin in August
• Conversational Spanish is a plus
• Long-term commitment preferred. We are looking for team members who are interested in growing with Young STEAMers beyond the internship and becoming part of our instructor community.
