Postdoctoral Fellow
A postdoctoral research position is available in the lab of Dr. Elinor Lee, a NIH-funded laboratory in the UCLA Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the role of lipid metabolism in the lungs during homeostasis and disease processes. We utilize state-of-the-art technical modalities including clinically relevant mouse models, primary cell lines, flow cytometry, protein and DNA-based molecular biology, biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, fluorescence and super resolution confocal microscopy, and DNA/RNA sequencing. The project also involves analyzing single cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomic datasets.
Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D., or equivalent title in biomedical sciences or a related field. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with great communication skills, the desire to work in a highly collaborative environment and to cooperate with co-workers and other scientists across different disciplines. The candidate must have prior experience in working with pulmonary macrophages and have an understanding of lung diseases. The candidate will be required to perform in vitro and in vivo models of lung diseases with lipid dysregulation, including pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. Experience with standard cellular and molecular biology techniques as well as confocal and fluorescence microscopy is required. Experience in murine in vivo lung models is also required. Experience in bioinformatics is encouraged but is not mandatory.
