Industrial Engineering Co-op Fall 2026 - Emerson Professional Tools

If you are an Engineering Student eager to develop your skills, Emerson has an opening for you! Based in our Elyria, OH location, you will assist and support the Professional Tools business with many different aspects of engineering in which you will work closely with the production floor, supervision, management and engineering. You will work with special projects to improve flow for assembly areas, design custom brackets, use 3D CAD and other projects as needed.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Update and build better flow for assembly area through improving layout of benches, parts layouts and assembly tools
  • Design custom brackets and displays for monitors in assembly area to be both highly visible yet not obstructing assembly process
  • Learn process of assembly and define key areas that visual aids will assist the most
  • Selection and installation of visual monitors and diagrams in key locations along assembly benches
  • Familiarization with Solid Edge 3D CAD to create rendered images of assembly views
  • 3D CAD ballon views of subassemblies with part numbers shown and assembly orientation
  • Creation of content for assembly training including videos and hands on models and instruction aids
  • Digitizing Work instructions to be viewed with tablets at assembly benches 
  • Creating video content for assembly benches to be displayed while in process
  • Creating digital final assembly completion checklists and quality checks 

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role  

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Sophomore or higher class status
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in creating Work Instructions 
  • Basic experience with data analysis, methods, and graphing.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Familiar with Time studies
  • Familiar to Bill of Material and Routing maintenance
  • Basic experience for Process evaluation and improvement
