Volunteer Teaching Assistance in Ghana
About the Role & Impact
Are you looking to build stand-out international experience, develop global leadership skills, and travel with true purpose? SFLIG Volunteers invites passionate university students and recent graduates to join our educational support program in beautiful Ghana.
In many of our grassroots partner communities, local primary and junior high schools face severe resource shortages and crowded classrooms. By stepping into this role, you will act as a vital cross-cultural resource—bringing fresh energy to classrooms, bridging educational gaps, and inspiring young minds while gaining unforgettable global perspectives.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
* Classroom Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with local headteachers to assist with daily lessons, grading, and innovative classroom management.
* Core Subject Tutoring: Help plan and facilitate interactive learning sessions for foundational subjects like English conversational skills, basic Mathematics, and General Sciences.
* Creative Workshops: Bring your unique hobbies across the globe! Design and lead extracurricular activities in drawing, painting, music, or sports to build child confidence and cognitive creativity.
* One-on-One Mentorship: Provide patient, targeted reading and arithmetic support to bright children who just need individual attention to catch up.
What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)
* All Majors Welcome: No formal teaching degree, licensing, or TEFL certificate is required! We value empathy, drive, and adaptability above all.
* Skills: Excellent communication, cross-cultural curiosity, patience, and a highly collaborative spirit.
* Cultural Respect: An eagerness to learn about, respect, and fully immerse yourself in Ghanaian culture, traditions, and the local lifestyle.
The Student Experience: What’s Included
* Academic Credit Support: If your university offers internship or experiential learning credits for volunteering abroad, our team will happily coordinate with your department to fill out all necessary supervisor evaluations and paperwork!
* Total Support Network: From comprehensive pre-departure prep and airport pickups to safe, shared volunteer housing, local orientation, and dedicated staff mentors, we ensure your trip is secure and highly organized.
* Work-Life Balance: Projects run Monday through Friday, giving you long weekends to explore Ghana’s historic coastal forts, national parks, and vibrant markets alongside fellow global volunteers.
