HSE Engineer
Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) is Korea’s premier global construction leader with a 78-year legacy.
Currently, we are spearheading a historic $5.8 billion integrated steel mill project in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. As the primary force behind this landmark development, we are building the first integrated electric arc furnace (EAF) facility in the U.S., delivering world-class industrial infrastructure on a global scale.
To drive this monumental vision forward, we are seeking HSE Engineers to join our team and contribute to the excellence of this landmark facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements
- Conduct daily site inspections, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions
- Lead Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Permit-to-Work processes
- Support incident/near-miss investigations and prepare detailed reports
- Provide HSE training, toolbox talks, and onboarding safety orientation for workers
- Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and ensure adherence to site safety standards
- Review method statements, lifting plans, and high‑risk work procedures
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills
- Support development and continuous improvement of site HSE programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- 1+ year of HSE experience in construction, industrial plant, steel mill, or heavy civil projects
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and construction safety practices
- Experience with JSA, PTW, incident investigation, and safety audits
- Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, subcontractors, and project management
- Certifications such as OSHA 30 or other HSE credentials preferred
- Strong documentation, reporting, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work on a fast‑paced construction site
