Systems Administrator Associate
Description
The Systems Administrator Associate will serve as the lead technical authority for our infrastructure operations. You will oversee the design, implementation, and security of complex server environments, manage high-level escalations, and mentor junior staff. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day uptime with long-term modernization and compliance goals.
Core Qualifications & Education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or in computer science, IT, or a related technical field is standard.
- Alternative: 3-5+ years of direct experience can often substitute for a degree
Experience Levels:
- 1–3+ years of experience in end-user support or basic server maintenance.
- 3-5+ years managing servers (Windows/Linux) and network protocols.
- 3-5+ years infrastructure design, cloud migration (AWS/Azure), and team leadership.
Essential Certifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Administrator Expert
- AWS SysOps Administrator
Technical Skills & Responsibilities:
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows Server (2016+) or Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu).
- Directory Services: Managing user accounts, GPOs, and security policies via Active Directory/Azure AD.
- Virtualization & Cloud: Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Security & Maintenance: Patch management, data backups/recovery (e.g., Rubrik, Veeam), and firewall monitoring.
- Automation: Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Professional Qualities:
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex hardware/software interoperability issues.
- Communication: Explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders or agency leadership.
