FWS Research Assistant- Interior Design Interventions to Improve Air Quality in Indoor Spaces 
Description:
The research team is seeking an Undergraduate research assistant to assist in working on a grant project related to studying interior design interventions that could improve indoor air quality and environments in interior spaces. The study will also track what impact making those interventions has on the building occupants' emotional perception of experiencing those modified spaces. Work will be completed in support of the following grant, Prolonged Building Viability: A Case Study in Implementing Interior Environment Interventions to Improve Indoor Air Quality and Occupant Health in Aging Buildings, awarded through VCU’s Institute of Sustainable Energy and Environments' 2026/2027 ISEE Solving Societal Challenges Grant. Outcomes of the study will be developed into proposals for consideration in conference proceedings, publications, and proposals for additional grant funding.

Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to: 
assistant on going research ( e.g. literature reviews, data collection, 3d model development)
conducting qualitative surveys and interviews with building occupants in person and through zoom and transcribing results
analyze research articles and present them to the research team
attend regular team meetings as well as additional team meetings that may arise
content development for research presentations and publications

Hourly pay: 12.77 an hour

Remote Options:
The student will have the option to work remotely if necessary.

Required / Preferred qualifications:
Interest in innovative design approaches towards the adaptive reuse of the built environment to improve wellness
motivation to learn new skills and knowledge
punctuality and strong communication skills
prior experience and research inside or outside the classroom
the ability to use AutoDesk Revit and Adobe InDesign Software programs proficiently 

Hours:
A reasonable weekly schedule will be determined between the supervisor and mentor, not to exceed 20 hours per week, Monday- Friday during normal working hours.
