Water Resources Engineering Intern

As a Water Resources and Stormwater Engineering Intern at Gemini, the team member will dive deep into the complexities of hydrologic and hydraulic numerical modeling while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team of engineers, GIS analysts, and scientists.  The intern will be challenged to apply their knowledge of engineering principles, test their problem-solving abilities, and contribute to meaningful public and private sector projects.  This position is for an in-person summer internship in our St. Petersburg FL office where we are committed to nurturing and empowering our interns for future success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in team meetings, sharing updates, insights, and feedback relevant to our engineering projects.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines related to stormwater, watershed, and floodplain management.
  • Acquire software experience with ArcGIS and at least one hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling software including ICPR, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS, or SWMM.
  • Participate firsthand in field reconnaissance, collecting and validating model parameters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student in an ABET-accredited engineering degree program (Bachelor’s or Master’s), majoring in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior internship or related experience
  • GIS and/or CAD proficiency
  • Strong computer skills
