Water Resources GIS Intern
Water Resources/Stormwater GIS Intern:
As a Water Resources and Stormwater GIS Intern at Gemini, the team member will learn to harness the power of spatial data to support water-related projects while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team of engineers, GIS analysts, and scientists. The intern will be challenged to apply their knowledge of GIS technology, test their problem-solving abilities, and contribute to meaningful public and private sector projects. This position is for an in-person summer internship in our St. Petersburg office where we are committed to nurturing and empowering our interns for future success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate actively in team meetings by sharing project updates, insights, and feedback.
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines related to stormwater, watershed, and floodplain management.
- Gain proficiency in ArcGIS software, while also delving into at least one hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling software such as ICPR, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS, or SWMM.
- Take part directly in field reconnaissance activities, gathering and verifying model parameters.
EDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIRED):
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, majoring in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Planning, or a related field.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in GIS software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills.
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
