Krah USA is seeking a driven, high-initiative Hands-On Application Engineering & Technical Sales Intern for our pipe manufacturing facility. This is not a remote or corporate desk job. This unique role is specifically designed to bridge the gap between heavy industrial manufacturing and technical sales.
You will spend a significant portion of your time on our active production floor, mastering our physical manufacturing processes, and translating that real-world knowledge into structural calculations, project estimations, and client solutions.

Location & Commute: This is a 100% on-site, physical factory job located at our facility in Prineville, Oregon. No remote work or relocation assistance is available.
Language Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required. You will be interacting daily with factory crews, safety managers, and municipal clients where clear, rapid English communication is critical for safety and operations.
Student Mentorship Note
If you are a current student pursuing your degree, you will directly shadow our Lead Engineer. This provides a rare, hands-on opportunity to learn how custom infrastructure projects move from initial client blueprints, through machine programming and physical production, to final delivery.
Core Responsibilities
1. Factory Floor Integration & Application Engineering
Production Floor Mastery: Spend dedicated daily time on our active manufacturing floor to master how our computerized spiral-winding machines work. You will learn the physical realities of extruding large-diameter HDPE pipe.
Engineering Mentorship: Shadow and support the Lead Engineer in drafting custom pipe fittings, calculating structural stiffness, and understanding how physical manufacturing constraints impact design.
Quality & Fabrication Support: Assist with hands-on quality checks, custom fabrication processes, and understanding the physical properties of 100% virgin HDPE resin.
2. Technical Estimating & Sales (The Factory-to-Client Bridge)
Blueprint & RFP Review: Analyze incoming civil engineering blueprints, project specifications, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from municipal, agricultural, and industrial clients to determine project viability.
Cost & Material Modeling: Work alongside the production team to calculate material volumes, machine runtimes, and physical fabrication labor to generate highly accurate price quotes based on physical floor realities.
Technical Client Support: Act as a liaison for clients, helping field inquiries from irrigation managers, municipal boards, and civil contractors regarding Krah's structural advantages and physical installation/field-welding specifications.
Qualifications & Skills We Look For
Academic Foundation: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Civil, or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Industrial Grit & Safety-First Mindset: You must be comfortable and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, physical manufacturing plant. Respect for rigorous industrial safety standards is non-negotiable.
Hands-On Aptitude: You like to see how things are built. You want to understand the machinery, the materials, and the physical labor that goes into heavy civil infrastructure.
The "Hybrid" Mindset: A unique combination of technical analytical skills and strong interpersonal communication. You must be comfortable calculating engineering formulas and presenting those solutions clearly to a customer.
Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read, interpret, and extract dimensional and structural data from civil construction plans and CAD files.
