Recruitment and Admissions Specialist (Project Assistant)

Job Summary 

This position supports recruitment and admission efforts in the Graduate School by creating social media content, managing the Graduate Student Campus Tour Program, validating application data, and completing essential data entry activities.

Essential Functions

· Maintain database integrity: accurately input, update, and verify data across PAWS, Slate, and Excel 

· Work with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and security and ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations 

· Manage running of Graduate Student Campus Tour Program 

· Give campus tours · Create content for Graduate School social media accounts · Occasionally assist with campus events 

· Communicate effectively with various constituents, including academic department faculty and staff, students, and applicants

 

Qualifications

· Organized and detail-oriented, can handle sensitive or confidential data responsibly

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot independently · Familiarity with social media content creation 

· Ability to provide campus tours · Flexibility and adaptability to handle miscellaneous tasks and changing priorities

· Critical Thinking: This role requires the ability to solve problems and is trusted to make decisions independent of the full-time staff. The most common “problem” is troubleshooting software problems or reviewing applicant/student records to determine whether a new one is necessary or if an existing one must be updated. 

· Communication: This role requires communicating through email, social media and video/in-person conversation. It is necessary for this person to grow and feel comfortable communicating important information about admissions and enrollment at UWM when answering questions online and during campus tours. 

· Professionalism: The person in this position is required to work with faculty, staff, students, and prospective students in an office environment. The position is responsible for managing private data ethically and responsibly and representing the Graduate School in their interactions with various constituencies. 

· Tech Savviness: This role is required to use PAWS, Slate, and various social media accounts to perform regular duties. As previously mentioned, the person in this role will be working with personal data and will learn about responsible use and managing the data properly and securely. They will also learn about how PAWS and Slate work together to facilitate student and applicant records.
