Mobile App Developer Intern (iOS & Android)

Position Overview

House of Pancakes Academy (HOPA) is seeking a Mobile App Developer Intern to assist in the design, development, testing, and deployment of our mobile application. This internship is ideal for students or aspiring developers seeking hands-on experience building a real-world app that supports youth sports, education, community outreach, and nonprofit initiatives.

The intern will work closely with leadership, project management, and design teams to create a user-friendly mobile experience for both iOS and Android users.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to implement app features and functionality
  • Convert Figma designs into responsive mobile application screens and user interfaces
  • Participate in app testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and quality assurance processes
  • Help optimize application performance, security, and overall user experience
  • Assist with API integrations and backend connectivity
  • Document development processes, technical updates, and project progress
  • Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and project discussions
  • Support app deployment and post-launch improvements as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mobile Development, or a related field
  • Familiarity with iOS and Android development environments
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Flutter
    • React Native
    • Swift
    • Kotlin
    • Git/GitHub
    • Figma
  • Understanding of mobile UI/UX design principles
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Communication & Accountability Requirement

Because this is a remote-first internship, consistent communication is required.

Important Note: Interns must be available to attend a recurring 30-minute team status meeting to collaborate with leadership and cross-functional departments, provide project updates, and stay aligned on organizational priorities.

All interns must complete check-ins every:

  • Tuesday
  • Thursday
  • Sunday

Check-ins must be submitted via text, email, or the designated team communication channel and must include:

  • Current progress
  • Completed tasks
  • Upcoming availability
  • Any issues, questions, or support needs

Failure to maintain consistent communication may result in removal from the program.
