Corporate Controller
WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the purposes of internal and external reporting and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise finance/accounting staff
- Propose accounting process improvements
- Recommend, implement, and maintain accounting policies and controls
- Work with accounting firm to prepare annual tax returns
- Prepare financial statements and regulatory information including divisional schedules and/or statements
- Plan and implement annual audits with independent external auditors
- Assist FP&A team with any accounting data requests
- File timely financial regulatory reports
- Manage accounting for endowment and other financial assets
- FCC Compliance Officer
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mastery of accounting principles as it relates to financial reporting and GAAP
- Organized and detail oriented
- Expert user of Microsoft Excel and other office products
- Oracle NetSuite proficiency preferred but not required
- Solutions-oriented mindset
- Customer-service oriented
- Ability to work cross-functionally and across various levels of management
- Flexibility in work schedule; 3 days in office minimum
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years or more of supervisory experience
- 7 years or more of accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years of experience in a controller capacity
- Media and/or content company experience preferred
- Non-profit experience required
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred.
