Traffic Engineer, Entry-Level

Begin your career working with some of the top civil engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for a Traffic Engineer, Entry Level to join our team in Columbus OH.

B&N Traffic Engineer, Entry Level Responsibilities:

  • Perform safety analyses and network screening, including systemic analysis and site-specific studies
  • Apply Safe System Approach (SSA) principles, proven safety countermeasures, and Highway Safety Manual methodologies on assigned projects
  • Collaborate and learn from experienced Professional Engineers, Professional Traffic Operations Engineers and be mentored by industry leaders in transportation
  • Grow and develop skills including traffic engineering tasks, technical skills, project management and business development
  • Support experienced engineers on transportation projects, including traffic modeling and analysis, safety analysis, and traffic forecasting

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern registration or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • 0-4 years of experience in traffic studies and plan development
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, GIS, or AutoCAD; experience with Synchro, HCS, HSM, or IHSDM a plus
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Strong interest in transportation engineering and motivated to improve the efficiency and safety of transportation systems 
  • Strong technical writing and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience participating in Road Safety Audits and familiarity with safety countermeasure evaluation and selection a plus
