The New England Council is a non-partisan alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations throughout New England formed to promote economic growth and a high quality of life in the New England region. The Council headquarters are in Boston, MA, and maintains a fully-staffed satellite office in Washington, D.C.
Internship Summary:
The Boston Communications Intern provides support to the communications function in the Council’s small but busy Boston headquarters. This position provides an opportunity to experience how a 501(c)(6) membership organization operates, to learn more about the intersection of policy and business, and to develop key communications skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Social media content creation i.e. graphics, video, photo
- Assisting with development of bi-weekly email newsletter
- Setting up event invitations and registration pages
- Assistance with website updates
- Supporting Rising Stars planning and content
- Other administrative tasks as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact (or other email marketing platforms), Adobe suite, and social media platforms is preferred
- Interest in communications/public relations, as well as government and politics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Research skills
- Attention to detail
- Punctuality, time management, dependability
- Works well with team
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate; journalism, communications, public relations, marketing majors preferred by not required
- Minimum[AL1] [EH2] Grade Point Average 3.0
Other Information Regarding the Role:
- Office Hours Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- In-office work 15-20 hours a week
- Start Date: Week of September 7, 2026
- End Date: Week of December 14, 2026
- Accessible by public transportation
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements are generally limited to normal office activities, including sitting, standing and using a computer.
