Manufacturing Quality Intern

The Manufacturing Quality Engineering Intern will support quality and manufacturing engineering activities focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency within plant operations. This internship provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, supplier quality, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional engineering projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

The intern will work alongside quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, operations teams, and suppliers to gain real-world experience supporting projects related to process improvement, product quality, data analysis, and operational performance.

 

This role is designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities, professional development, and practical engineering experience within the commercial vehicle manufacturing industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering and quality teams with process improvement initiatives
  • Support quality investigations and root cause analysis activities
  • Help collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing and quality data
  • Participate in plant walkthroughs and manufacturing observations
  • Support supplier quality and receiving inspection activities
  • Assist with documentation updates, process tracking, and reporting
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, purchasing, and quality
  • Support new product launch and manufacturing readiness activities
  • Prepare presentations and summaries for engineering and operational teams
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Complete special projects and additional assignments as needed

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems preferred.
  • Manufacturing awareness with welding, sheet metal, assembly processes, tolerances is valuable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and ability to work independently and with others.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
