Department & CoF Program Description
The Center for International Relations & Cultural Leadership Exchange (CIRCLE) serves as a hub for international student engagement, support, and advocacy. As part of the strategy to make CIRCLE a “home away from home” for international students, we created the CIRCLE of Friends program (CoF) in 2022, to provide a space for international students to hangout, make friends and get support, through all kinds of culture celebrations, fun activities, helpful sessions, free snacks and many more.
We are hiring three Peer Advisors to plan CoF events and lead a team of 5-8 volunteers.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs and the Student Event Manager, CoF Peer Advisers will lead a group of student volunteers (CIRCLE Ambassadors or CAs) to offer a variety of cultural activities and workshops to engage and support international students each quarter, and more.
Position responsibilities include:
- PAs will help select and train a group of volunteers to implement weekly activities. An important part of the job is to create a strong bond and sense of inclusion within the team through weekly team meetings, hangouts, etc.
- PAs will plan, execute, promote and reflect on each week’s activity based on students’ needs.
- PAs will attend all CoF large team trainings and meetings, including an overnight team bonding and training retreat on Vashon Island between October 9-11.
- PAs will coordinate with CIRCLE Marketing and Communications Coordinator and others to promote CoF and its weekly events, via CIRCLE Newsletter and other social media platforms
- PAs will be responsible for budgeting and keeping track of team expenses on activities
- PAs will support CIRCLE’s International Welcome Programs on site between September 21-28, 2026.
- PA will also support other CIRCLE programs, large events and responsibilities as needed.
Pay Rate: $21.30 per hour
Hours: 12-15 hours per week
Desired start date: September 16, 2026
Length of Position: 2026-2027 Academic Year (September 16, 2026-June 15 2027)
Requirements
- Demonstrated event planning or project management experiences
- Ability to engage, motivate and manage a diverse student group
- Familiarity with the international student experience
- Being professional, reliable, and detail oriented
- Having a service mind and willing to learn
- Registered UW undergraduate student in Seattle in any major
