ABOUT THE ROLE

The Block Party is a free community event with a real social media following — and a lot of content to produce between now and September 11th. This intern will be the primary executor of our pre-event content calendar, helping us show up consistently and authentically on Instagram and Facebook.

This is not a strategy role. It's an execution role — but a creative one. You'll work from an existing content calendar, brand voice guide, and caption library to bring planned posts to life. You'll work closely alongside the ED, who has been building this event for seven years, and who will be your creative collaborator and approving eye throughout the summer. There's room for initiative and original ideas, but the job is to show up reliably and make good content.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and schedule social media content for Instagram and Facebook using an existing content calendar
  • Produce short-form vertical video reels using b-roll footage from our One Block at a Time series
  • Write captions in the Block Party voice — neighborly, fun, a little gritty, never corporate
  • Execute scheduled sponsor posts according to our sponsor content obligations
  • Monitor comments and basic engagement during the lead-up to the event
  • Flag anything that needs review or approval before posting

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

  • Real-world social media management experience for a high-visibility community event
  • A portfolio of published content with measurable reach and engagement
  • Experience working within brand guidelines, a content calendar, and a sponsor content workflow
  • Direct mentorship from the organization's founder and executive director

YOU'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU...

  • Have used Instagram and Facebook — actually used them, not just scrolled them
  • Can write in a voice that isn't yours and make it sound natural
  • Are comfortable working independently with light check-ins
  • Have basic video editing skills (CapCut, Reels editor, or similar is fine)
  • Can meet deadlines without being chased down

MUST BE AVAILABLE

  • July 7 or earlier through September 11, with consistent weekly availability
  • Event day: Friday, September 11, 2026 — in person strongly preferred
