Position Summary

Pointer Construction Group is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, and federal construction projects.

The Project Engineer will support Project Managers and Superintendents throughout all phases of construction, assisting with project documentation, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, procurement, cost tracking, and quality control. This role provides a strong foundation for career growth into Project Management and Construction Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.
  • Support the management of submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Track project milestones and help maintain project schedules.
  • Assist with procurement and material delivery coordination.
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
  • Support quality control efforts, inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Maintain accurate project records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and company standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Recent graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship, co-op, or construction-related work experience is a plus but not required.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore,  or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally within the construction industry.
