From timeless classics to the latest releases, we curate the very best in children's literature. We also host many exciting weekly events featuring award-winning, best-selling, and debut authors and illustrators.
Role Overview
We are seeking a creative, Copywriting Intern who can both adapt to our “house voice” while composing captivating copy as a member of our marketing team. In this role, you will be the voice of our bookstore in our customers' inboxes. Your primary mission is to craft compelling email campaigns that drive book sales and pack the house for our live events. This is an excellent opportunity to build a robust portfolio while learning the ins and outs of retail email marketing, bookselling, and the publishing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and produce two high-impact email newsletters per week.
- Craft engaging, persuasive descriptions of new book arrivals to drive high demand and robust sales from parents and others interested in childrens and teen books.
- Promote upcoming author and illustrator events with exciting, urgent copy that maximizes customer attendance.
- Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to align copy with visual assets.
- Track email open rates and click-through metrics to continuously improve copy performance.
Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate in English, Journalism, Marketing, Creative Writing, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Ability to adopt a warm, inviting, and enthusiastic tone that resonates with parents, educators, and gift-buyers, while maintaining our hard-earned reputation for excellence.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet strict bi-weekly deadlines.
- A passion for children’s literature and the NYC cultural scene is a major plus.
