Pixel Art and Interactive Media Intern

About the Role
RPX Media Production is seeking a highly detail-oriented Pixel Art & Interactive Storytelling Intern to help expand the immersive digital world surrounding our original manga/light novel franchise, The Seventh Kingdom.

This role focuses on designing 2D pixel-art assets, environmental storytelling elements, and interactive visual details for a gamified online fan experience inspired by retro RPG exploration. You’ll help bring our evolving fictional universe to life through hidden details, lore-driven design, and thoughtful world-building.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving creative problems, thrives with clear direction, and can independently execute polished work while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

What You’ll Do

  • Design 2D pixel-art assets, props, environmental details, and interactive objects that align with an established fantasy/sci-fi world and visual style.
  • Translate spreadsheet-based creative briefs into polished visual assets using provided lore notes, flavor text, references, and design guidelines.
  • Create subtle environmental storytelling moments that tease upcoming story arcs, chapters, and character lore.
  • Maintain consistency with existing worldbuilding, symbolism, and official visual direction.
  • Organize and document assets clearly for implementation into a virtual fan environment.
  • Problem-solve visual challenges independently while asking thoughtful questions when needed.

Ideal Candidate
You may be a great fit if you:

Have experience with pixel art, 2D game assets, sprite design, or environmental art.

Can closely match an established aesthetic rather than only designing in your personal style.

Are highly detail-oriented and thorough—you notice inconsistencies and proactively fix them.

Enjoy lore, worldbuilding, fantasy/sci-fi settings, ARGs, RPGs, or immersive storytelling.

Are comfortable working from spreadsheets, documentation, and creative briefs.

Are a strong problem solver who can work independently and troubleshoot creatively.

Communicate clearly and meet deadlines reliably.

Bonus Skills (Highly Preferred)

Familiarity with basic coding, HTML/CSS, scripting, or game-adjacent tools.

Experience with platforms such as Aseprite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Godot, Gather, RPG environments, or interactive digital spaces.

Interest in anime, manga, gaming culture, or narrative world design.
