Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Internship

Project Description:

This internship supports the coordination and implementation of the Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) process. The intern will coordinate FIMR Board meetings, attend mortality review sessions with the Medical Director, assist with data dissemination, and present findings to external partners. As stated in the original project description, “The intern will work closely with community partners, stakeholders, staff and residents” to ensure findings support community‑informed improvements in maternal and infant health.  

 

Goals and Objectives:  

  • Coordinate logistics and materials for FIMR Board meetings.  
  • Attend mortality review sessions with the Medical Director to observe case review processes.  
  • Assist with compiling, organizing, and disseminating FIMR data.  
  • Prepare summaries and presentations for external partners.  
  • Support efforts to translate findings into actionable recommendations.  

 

Required Skills:  

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.  
  • Interest in maternal and infant health outcomes.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners.  
  • Basic understanding of public health concepts.  

 

Preferred Skills:  

  • Background in public health, maternal and child health, or related fields.  
  • Experience with data organization or report preparation.  
  • Familiarity with mortality review processes or case review frameworks.  
  • Comfort presenting information to groups.
