About JD Glass Inc.
JD Glass Inc. is a self-performing C-17 commercial glazing subcontractor serving the Southern California market — Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego — with selective out-of-state work. Founded in 2015 and grown from a family trade background, we handle full Division 8 scope: storefront, curtainwall, doors, hardware, glazing, and mirrors. Our work spans private commercial tenant improvement projects and California prevailing wage public works, from retail and restaurants to multifamily, hospitality, and institutional/public schools. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn commercial construction estimating from the ground up, working directly with ownership in a fast-paced, high-volume bidding environment.

Position Summary
We’re hiring a Construction Estimator Intern for a fixed two-month, paid internship to support our active bidding operation. You’ll learn how to read plans and specifications, perform material takeoffs, gather vendor pricing, and assemble bid proposals for real projects currently going out to bid. This role is ideal for a student building toward a career in estimating, construction management, or preconstruction, and offers direct mentorship and exposure to the full bid-to-award process. The internship has a defined end date at the conclusion of the two-month period.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in reviewing project drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify Division 8 scope. Perform quantity takeoffs for storefront, curtainwall, doors, hardware, glass, and mirrors. Help solicit and organize pricing from glass, aluminum, and hardware vendors. Support preparation of bid proposals and scope letters. Maintain and help build out estimating templates, unit-pricing libraries, and bid-tracking systems. Assist with basic plan markups and drawing edits (AutoCAD LT exposure provided). Keep bid documents, due dates, and submittal records organized. General preconstruction and administrative support as needed.

Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field (or recent graduate). Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; willingness to learn estimating and takeoff software. Ability to read or learn to read construction drawings and specifications. Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication. Reliable transportation to our Tustin office. Preferred (not required): prior exposure to construction, glazing, or a skilled trade; familiarity with AutoCAD or Bluebeam; bilingual (English/Spanish).

What You’ll Gain
Direct mentorship from the company’s founder and estimating team. Real experience estimating active commercial projects across diverse project types. Working knowledge of the commercial bidding and award process, prevailing wage public works, and Division 8 scope. A foundation in building estimating systems and preconstruction workflows. Potential for a full-time position at the conclusion of the internship for strong performers. This is a fixed two-month internship. Based on performance and business needs, the company may offer a full-time position at the end of the term. Such an offer is at the company’s sole discretion and is not guaranteed; completion of the internship does not by itself entitle the intern to continued employment.

Employment Terms
This is a paid, W-2, non-exempt hourly position compensated at $18.00/hour for all hours worked, paid on the company’s regular payroll schedule. The rate exceeds California’s 2026 state minimum wage of $16.90/hour. The internship is a fixed-term engagement of approximately two (2) months with a defined end date. Completion of the internship does not constitute or imply an offer of continued or permanent employment. As a non-exempt employee, the intern is eligible for overtime and entitled to meal and rest breaks in accordance with California labor law. Employment with JD Glass Inc. is at-will, meaning either the intern or the company may end the working relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, subject to the fixed term described above. Nothing in this posting creates a contract of employment or a guarantee of employment for any specific duration beyond the stated term. The intern must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the company will complete I-9 employment eligibility verification.
