Accounting Manager – AR & Credit Operations

Location: Walnut Creek, CA
Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 DOE
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday

We are actively seeking an Accounting Manager – AR & Credit Operations to join a dynamic wholesale distribution organization. In this high-impact leadership role, you will oversee critical accounting workflows while driving credit strategy, receivables performance, and operational efficiency across multiple locations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending hands-on accounting leadership with process improvement and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen financial performance.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Lead credit and collections strategy to enhance cash flow performance and reduce risk
  • Oversee accounts receivable operations, including payment application, reconciliation, and reporting visibility
  • Evaluate customer credit exposure and establish consistent policies across locations
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and leadership to resolve account issues and improve customer relationships
  • Guide accounts payable coordination, including vendor management and payment timing
  • Support month-end close processes and ensure accuracy in financial reporting workflows
  • Standardize accounting procedures across branches to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Identify operational gaps and implement improvements tied to systems and reporting processes
  • Partner with external financial professionals to support audits, reporting, and compliance efforts
  • Mentor and support accounting team members while serving as a trusted internal resource

 

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, credit, or operational finance roles
  • Strong background in credit management and collections strategy
  • Experience working in wholesale distribution, construction supply, industrial supply, or similar environments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor accounting staff
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems; distribution platforms are a plus
  • Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to navigate customer and internal discussions effectively
  • Organized, detail-focused mindset with a strong focus on process improvement
