Position: 1.0 FTE Science Teacher – Lynden High School
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with Science Endorsement
- Anticipated teaching assignment: Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
- Experience designing and implementing instruction aligned to the CCSS and NGSS
- Instructional expertise in laboratory work
- Previous experience teaching high school science preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical strategies and best practices in science education
- Successful experience using effective teaching strategies for students who speak English as their second language and Special Education students preferred
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver comprehensive science lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-curricular connections and promote interdisciplinary learning
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work Year: 2026-27 school year; continuing position
FTE: 1.0 FTE
Hours: 7 hours per day; 7:20 a.m.-2:50 p.m.; Monday - Friday
Starting Date: August 26, 2026
Salary: Per negotiated LEA contract. The 25/26 Pay Range for 1.0 FTE is $69,031 - $136,249 dependent upon degree, credits, and school district teaching experience.
Benefits: This position qualifies for healthcare benefits (medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance), retirement benefits, up to 12 days of sick leave, and up to three (3) days of personal leave per school year. (Days of sick leave and personal leave are prorated based on employee start date.)
