Media and Marketing Specialist
The Media and Marketing Specialist focuses on social media and content coordination, multimedia production, storytelling, and media relations — all in service of the college's brand and strategic goals. As a member of the public relations and community affairs team, the positions helps design and produce creative initiatives, including website content, internal and external publications, and digital marketing and multimedia projects. This member will also develop and monitor the college’s official social media channels, and identify and produce news stories to engage journalists and other audiences. In addition, the Media and Marketing Specialist provides general photography and videography services and partners with freelancers and vendors for special projects.
Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3 04 ($40,583 - $66,302) based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute social media content strategy across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube)
2. Assist in the development and writing of news stories and publications.
3. Produce photography and short-form video content for campus events and storytelling.
4. Coordinate with external vendors and freelancers for larger multimedia projects and paid advertising.
5. Identify, develop, and execute institutional storytelling aligned with the college’s strategic goals.
6. Manage media relations: pitch stories, follow up with news media, respond to inquiries.
7. Assist with promotional item ordering, inventory and track distribution
8. Assist in website revision requests and content updates for the web.
9. Assist with the college’s IPOP and Ambassador Scholarship programs, as needed.
10. Work a flexible schedule including limited evenings and weekends.
11. Travel as needed to appropriate community and/or college events.
12. Assume other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Associate’s degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution
2. Excellent social media platform knowledge and experience
3. Exceptional computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva.
4. Able to operate DSLR camera for photography and videography
5. Excellent oral, auditory and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing or a business-related field
2. Familiarity with website content management systems
3. Portfolio or work samples demonstrating writing, design, and multimedia capabilities
4. Experience with media relations or journalism
5. Experience with short-form video editing
