The Converse EDGE Internship Program provides students with meaningful, career-connected experiences that integrate professional skill development with hands-on workplace learning. Through mentorship, reflection, assessment, and practical application, EDGE Interns develop the career readiness competencies employers seek while making valuable contributions to campus departments and programs.
Position Description
The Residence Life Recruitment & Engagement EDGE Intern supports student engagement, recruitment initiatives, and community-building efforts within the Office of Residence Life while also assisting with front desk operations in designated residence halls. This position contributes to student outreach, leadership recruitment, event coordination, and engagement initiatives that help foster a welcoming and connected residential community.
The role provides hands-on experience in recruitment, event planning, student engagement, leadership development, assessment, and higher education administration while developing transferable skills applicable to careers in student affairs, event management, human resources, communications, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Outreach
- Support Community Advisor recruitment efforts through events, outreach campaigns, and informational programs.
- Assist with residence hall tours, open houses, and initiatives that promote student involvement within Residence Life.
- Promote leadership opportunities and encourage student participation in Residence Life programs and activities.
Student Engagement & Assessment
- Assist with initiatives that foster community, belonging, and student engagement within residential communities.
- Gather student feedback and participation data to help evaluate engagement efforts and inform future programming.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations that support student connection and community development.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide front desk coverage and administrative support within assigned residence halls.
- Support departmental projects, events, and engagement initiatives as needed.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
EDGE Interns gain hands-on experience in recruitment, event planning, student engagement, outreach, assessment, and leadership development.
Project opportunities may include Community Advisor Recruitment Week initiatives, residence hall open house events, resident feedback and engagement assessments, first-year engagement initiatives, and other programs designed to strengthen student connection and residential community experiences.

Qualifications
- Enrolled Converse University student in good academic standing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Residence Life staff and student leaders.
- Willingness to take initiative and contribute ideas for engagement and recruitment efforts.
- Interest in leadership development, student engagement, higher education, recruitment, or event planning.
- Public speaking, event planning, or outreach experience preferred.
- Availability to assist with occasional evening or weekend events.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Standing for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying materials.
- Participation in event setup and breakdown activities.
Supervision, Mentorship & Evaluation
EDGE Interns receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and feedback throughout the academic year. Supervisors provide guidance on student engagement strategies, recruitment practices, event coordination, assessment, and professional development while supporting growth in career readiness competencies.
As part of the Converse EDGE Internship Program, interns participate in a structured assessment process designed to measure growth in career readiness competencies and professional development.
Position Details

- Duration: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
- Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour
- Schedule: Two evening shifts per week between Sunday and Wednesday, typically from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m
- Positions will remain open until filled. Hiring timelines vary by department, and some supervisors may move more quickly through the interview and selection process than others. Early application is encouraged.
