About the Converse EDGE Internship Program

The Converse EDGE Internship Program provides students with meaningful, career-connected experiences that integrate professional skill development with hands-on workplace learning. Through mentorship, reflection, assessment, and practical application, EDGE Interns develop the career readiness competencies employers seek while making valuable contributions to campus departments and programs.

Position Description

The Student Activities EDGE Intern supports the planning, promotion, and execution of campus programs and events designed to enhance student engagement, community, and belonging. Working closely with the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership, the intern contributes to large-scale campus events, community-building initiatives, and student programming while gaining hands-on experience in event planning, budgeting, logistics, and program management.

This position provides practical experience in campus programming, event coordination, vendor research, marketing, budgeting, and student engagement while helping students develop transferable skills applicable to careers in higher education, student affairs, event management, nonprofit organizations, and related fields.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Program Development

  • Assist with planning and implementing campus programs, special events, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Research vendors, performers, agencies, and program resources that support campus activities.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for new programs and student experiences.

Event Operations & Logistics

  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, supply management, event preparation, and event execution.
  • Maintain organization and inventory of event supplies and materials.
  • Support setup, breakdown, and logistical coordination for programs and events.

Community & Belonging Initiatives

  • Support community-building programs, including MLK Day of Service, recognition month programs, and other campus initiatives.
  • Maintain and update Guidebook with current and upcoming campus events.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion through Canva and other communication tools.

Experiential Learning Opportunities

New Program Development Project

The Student Activities EDGE Intern will assist in the development and implementation of at least one new campus program or event each semester. Responsibilities may include researching ideas, developing event plans, coordinating logistics, managing budgets, promoting the event, and assessing participation and outcomes. Through this project, the student gains experience in program development, event planning, and student engagement strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying materials.
  • Participation in event setup and breakdown activities.

Supervision, Mentorship & Evaluation

EDGE Interns receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and project-based feedback from the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership throughout the academic year. Students receive guidance in event planning, budgeting, campus programming, student engagement, and professional skill development.

As part of the Converse EDGE Internship Program, interns participate in a structured assessment process designed to measure growth in career readiness competencies and professional development.

Position Details

  • Position Type: EDGE Intern
  • Department: Student Involvement & Leadership
  • Duration: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
  • Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Determined in coordination with the supervisor.
  • Positions will remain open until filled. Hiring timelines vary by department, and some supervisors may move more quickly through the interview and selection process than others. Early application is encouraged.
