Marketing and Social Media Intern
Shea Yeleen is a social enterprise that works to empower women shea butter producers in West Africa. Our mission is to promote sustainable economic development for these women by organizing and training women-owned cooperatives to produce, market and sell high quality shea butter. We also strive to educate U.S. consumers about the benefits of natural body care products and fair trade.
Job Overview:
The Marketing and Social Media Intern is responsible for:
- Drafting content for Shea Yeleen social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Instagram) and the management of social media campaigns.
- Reaching out to and communicating with micro-influencers for product features and review
- Creating videos
- Organizing online events via Facebook and Instagram Live
- Engaging via commenting and liking on social platforms
- Maintaining media contact lists and distributing relative information to those lists.
- Assisting the Chief Operating Officer in daily marketing, PR and social media tasks.

The Marketing and Social Media Intern reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer
Compensation:
The Marketing and Social Media Intern position will be offered a stipend based on experience. This is also an opportunity to assist in the product development, marketing, and distribution of a high-end fair trade skincare brand that supports economic development for women in rural West Africa. Internships can be applied toward school credit. The stipend is $500-$1000 for the semester commitment.

Qualifications:
- Commitment to women’s rights, justice and economic development ∙ Excellent verbal and written communication
- Completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate coursework in related field; preference given to applicants with technical or multi-media knowledge, prior communications experience/ knowledge or communications degrees
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Google Workspace and Internet research
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Attention to detail
- Experience in managing social media accounts, personal accounts are acceptable.
Commitment: 10-15 hours a week
