About Ineffable Films
Ineffable Films is a nonprofit on a mission to open the film industry to emerging and underserved storytellers. We do it through mentorship, festival access, hands-on education, and community screenings, and our work stretches from San Diego to New York to a creative partnership in Bandung, Indonesia. The Global Lens Film Series is our educational video series that breaks down the craft and history of filmmaking for the next generation of creators. We want it to sound every bit as unforgettable as it looks.

The Role
We are looking for a Composer Intern to help build the original soundtrack for the Global Lens Film Series. This is a real composing role, not a coffee run. You will write original music, inspired by the music of different cultures and that gives our episodes their emotional signature and helps audiences feel the ideas we are teaching.

You will work directly under our master composer, Ilia Klimenchenko, who will mentor you on scoring to picture, building themes, and shaping a cohesive sonic identity for the series. At the same time, you will have genuine creative freedom to bring your own voice, write original cues, and experiment. We bring interns on to create, not just to assist.

What you’ll do
-Compose original music and cues for Global Lens episodes, scored to picture
-Develop recurring themes and motifs that give the series a recognizable sound
-Collaborate with Ilia and the video team to match music to tone, pacing, and message
-Iterate on feedback and deliver polished, ready-to-publish tracks
-Help shape the musical identity of one of our flagship programs

What you’ll walk away with
-A produced body of work in a real, published series you can put in your reel
-One on one mentorship from an experienced composer
-Hands-on experience scoring to picture and collaborating with a creative team
-A meaningful credit on a mission-driven project that reaches filmmakers around the world
-A flexible, remote-friendly schedule that works around your classes

Who we’re looking for
Someone who loves writing music for visuals and can share a sample or two (links welcome)
Comfort in a DAW of your choice (Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Pro Tools, whatever you create in)
Openness to feedback and real excitement about mentorship
Reliability, self-direction, and a love for film and storytelling

No degree required. We care about your ears and your work, not your resume

How to apply
Send us a short note about why film music excites you, along with one or two samples or a link to your portfolio.
