About the Converse EDGE Internship Program
The Converse EDGE Internship Program provides students with meaningful, career-connected experiences that integrate professional skill development with hands-on workplace learning. Through mentorship, reflection, assessment, and practical application, EDGE Interns develop the career readiness competencies employers seek while making valuable contributions to campus departments and programs.
Position Description
The Career Development EDGE Intern serves as a key student leader within the Center for Career Development by acting as a bridge between the student body and professional staff while supporting the office's mission of promoting career readiness and student success. Through outreach, marketing, peer engagement, event planning, and student-led initiatives, the intern contributes valuable student perspectives that help strengthen programs, resources, and engagement strategies across campus. Fellows take ownership of outreach projects and engagement activities that connect students with career readiness resources and opportunities.
This position provides hands-on experience in peer engagement, marketing, event planning, outreach, program development, and career readiness education while helping students develop transferable skills applicable to careers in higher education, human resources, marketing, communications, training and development, student affairs, and related fields.

By participating in this internship, students will:

Key Responsibilities
Student Engagement & Outreach
- Support career development programs, workshops, career fairs, and outreach initiatives that increase student engagement and awareness.
- Serve as a student ambassador for the Center for Career Development by engaging with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Build connections with student organizations and campus groups to promote career readiness initiatives and resources.
- Design, market, and lead at least one student engagement or tabling initiative each semester.
Marketing & Communications
- Create marketing materials and promotional campaigns using Canva and other digital platforms.
- Develop and manage social media content that promotes career resources, events, experiential learning opportunities, and student success stories.
- Contribute to career development resources and outreach materials that enhance student engagement.
Event Planning & Program Support
- Assist with planning, promoting, coordinating, and evaluating career-related programs and events.
- Support outreach efforts through tabling, presentations, logistics, and event implementation.
- Maintain inventory and organization of the Career Development professional clothing closet while supporting student access to professional attire resources.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
Student Engagement Initiative Project
Each Career Development EDGE Intern will design, market, implement, and assess one student engagement or tabling initiative per semester. Fellows will identify a student need or career-related topic, develop engagement strategies, coordinate logistics, create promotional materials, execute the initiative, and evaluate outcomes. Through this project, students gain hands-on experience in program development, project management, event planning, marketing, outreach, and assessment while taking ownership of a complete initiative from concept to execution.

Supervision, Mentorship & Evaluation
EDGE Interns receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and project-based feedback from Career Development staff throughout the academic year. In addition to support from the designated supervisor, interns work closely with the entire Career Development team and receive regular feedback from multiple staff members to support professional growth and skill development.
As part of the Converse EDGE Internship Program, interns participate in a structured assessment process designed to measure growth in career readiness competencies and professional development.
