Choir Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal

General Summary: In accordance with district policies and procedures, the Choir Director oversees and is accountable for all aspects of the choir program for the district (i.e., curriculum, budgets)

Essential Functions:
1. Acts as the responsible agent for the direct instruction of students and is knowledgeable of the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
2. Administration of the High School and Jr. High Choir Program (bus request, grades, etc.).
3. Maintains clear and up to date lesson plans
4. Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education.
5. Responsible for state, district and conference music competitions.
6. Responsible for various concerts throughout the year performed with both the High School Choir Orchestras.
7. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
8. Participates in curriculum development and improvement and revision of course outlines for the classes he/she teaches.
9. Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district's policies/procedures.
10. Responsible for performances at other community events as availability permits.

Qualifications:
1. Education level – Bachelor's degree
2. Certification or Licensure – Appropriate and current Missouri Teaching Certificate in Music K-12.
3. Other requirements – Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
