Job Description
We have partnered with a growing organization in the Northern New Jersey area to provide them with a Staff Accountant. The company operates in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and values accounting professionals who can support financial operations while maintaining strong compliance and standards. This is an entry-level role open to candidates with 0 to 2 years of experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, receivables, accruals, and intercompany accounts
- Maintain and update accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with external audit documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and company policies
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Support financial reporting and ad hoc reporting as needed
Must-Have Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 0 to 2 years of accounting or finance experience
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong Excel skills including reporting and data management
- High attention to detail with strong organization and time management skills
- Additional Requirements
- Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor or similar accounting software
- Familiarity with advanced Excel functions including VLOOKUP and PivotTables
- Exposure to financial analysis or reporting
