Eurofins EAG Materials Science is seeking a Technical Specialist with a strong background in materials characterization to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to transition into a role that blends technical expertise with customer engagement and strategic problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for customized analytical projects.
- Engage directly with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored analytical solutions.
- Prepare detailed proposals and quotes, including statements of work.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Support the sales team by maintaining strong customer relationships and contributing to revenue growth.
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge across a broad range of analytical methods.

Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Materials Characterization experience in academic or industrial settings involving variety of materials, especially surface analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient listener with strong analytical and judgment capabilities.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Technically adept and computer literate.

Standout candidates combine deep polymer failure-analysis expertise with the ability to scope, lead, and communicate complex investigations directly with clients.
- 5+ years polymer/materials characterization experience with a strong track record in failure analysis/root-cause investigations (building test plans, narrowing hypotheses, and translating findings into clear conclusions).
- Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into an executable lab scope (assumptions, deliverables, turnaround, and success criteria) and contribute to proposals/quotes/SOWs.
- Advanced, applied expertise in FTIR + GCMS, and the ability to connect spectra/data to real-world material behavior across complex mixtures and unknowns.
- Comfortable leading peer-to-peer technical conversations with clients on experimental design, data interpretation, and next-step recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive outcomes under firm deadlines, including proactive risk escalation/conflict resolution.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
- Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.)
- Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
- Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
- Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
