Worship and Student Ministries Pastor 

Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, located in beautiful Roanoke, VA, is looking for a full-time youth/worship pastor. Emmanuel is a church dedicated to being a multigenerational church with a mission of, “Reaching every generation with the life changing touch of Jesus Christ and developing lifelong disciples by nurturing them into His Body, the Church.” 

We are not looking for a youth/worship leader or director; we are looking for a youth/worship pastor. A man/woman who has the heart of a shepherd and is willing to deal with the messiness of people’s lives. 

Worship

• Willing to lead in worship by example, not a song leader, but a leader of worship.
• Is dedicated to a blend of worship songs/styles.
• Understands how to arrange worship sets based on themes, arrangements, and/or keys. 
• Understands the importance of Biblical and correct theology in songs. 
• Experience in working with and building a team. 
• Recruits musicians and singers.  
• Leads weekly band practice. 
• Creates order of service for all services. 
• Selects videos for services as needed as well as backgrounds, countdowns, etc. 
• Creates sermon slides weekly. 
• Inputs song lyrics, announcements, and sermon slides for services. 
• Creates ministry/event highlight videos throughout the year. 
• Understanding of and experience with AV-sound systems, light board, computers, ProPresenter, streaming, etc. 
• Provides training sessions for tech team (sound, media, streaming, etc.).
• Responsible for upkeep and upgrade of all equipment. 

Student Ministry 

• Shepherds the hearts and lives of 6th-12th graders.
• Builds lifelong relationships with not only the student but parents/families as well.
• Helps students recognize their spiritual gifts and use them in the church.
• Provides oversight to weekly youth gatherings including teaching/preaching.
• Recruits and trains youth sponsors.
• Schedules “extra” outside of normal youth time events (putt putt, bowling, bonfire, baseball game, etc.).
• Develops youth discipleship program apart from youth group (Life Group format).
• Attends student activities such as games, concerts, recitals, etc.
• Attends youth camp and denominational youth events.
• Organizes and leads youth fundraisers if needed.

Other Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care/shepherding such as counseling, hospital and home visits, etc. to those under your ministry. 
• Attends staff meetings. 
• Casts ministry vision within the vision of the church. 
• Oversees hospitality ministry including welcome center, greeters, and ushers. 
• Prepares for baptism and communion as needed. 
• Appropriately manages ministry budgets. 
• Preaches as requested by the senior pastor.
