Mechanical Engineer Position
Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving precision instrumentation and mechanical systems used in laboratories and pharmaceutical applications. This role requires strong mechanical design skills, hands-on problem-solving abilities, and close collaboration with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for analytical laboratory instruments.
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials using CAD software.
- Develop prototypes and conduct tests to verify performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems.
- Analyze design failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support product development from concept through production release.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimize designs for cost, quality, and production efficiency.
- Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and test reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for existing products.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of mechanical design experience in product development.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience creating engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred
- Experience designing scientific, medical, laboratory, or pharmaceutical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with motion control systems, electromechanical assemblies, and fluid handling systems.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Experience with prototype fabrication and product testing.
