Marketing Intern
About ProZpects
ProZpects is a rapidly growing startup in the sports arena — an athletic recruiting platform that connects high school and college student-athletes with college coaches. Athletes build verified profiles — measurables, stats, video, and academics — and our standout feature is coach-verified stats: real coaches confirm an athlete's numbers so the data coaches see can be trusted. Coaches search and discover talent for free; athletes and parents subscribe for the recruiting tools.
We've launched and we're growing fast — but we're building our social media presence from the ground up. We're starting from zero on social, which means you get to launch and own every channel rather than maintain someone else's work. This is a rare chance to get in early at a fast-moving sports startup, take real ownership, and see your work directly shape how athletes, parents, and coaches discover ProZpects.
The Role
We're looking for a creative, sports-loving Marketing Intern to set up, build, and run our social media channels — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube. You'll create and schedule content, grow our following, and engage with our community of athletes, parents, and coaches. If you live and breathe sports and want hands-on marketing experience at a fast-moving startup, this is for you.
You'll work closely with our marketing lead and have a real voice in our content and brand.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Set up and optimize ProZpects accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube (profiles, bios, branding, link-in-bio)
- Plan, create, and schedule a consistent posting calendar across all channels
- Produce engaging content — short-form video/Reels, graphics, and written posts — tailored to each platform and audience (athletes, parents, coaches)
- Respond to comments, DMs, and mentions; engage with our community and build relationships with athletes, parents, and coaches
- Repost athlete signing-day moments, coach spotlights, and recruiting wins
- Help write recruiting-education content (e.g., "What college coaches actually look for")
- Track basic performance (follower growth, engagement, reach) and report on what's working
- Stay on top of platform trends, sounds, and formats — and bring fresh ideas to the table
Skills We're Looking For
- Strong writing and a good eye for visual content
- Hands-on experience creating short-form video and graphics (CapCut, Canva, or similar)
- Genuine fluency with Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms — you understand what makes content perform
- Organized and self-directed — able to manage a content calendar and hit posting deadlines
- Comfortable engaging with an online community in a friendly, professional, on-brand voice
- A real interest in or background with sports — as a player, fan, or someone who follows the recruiting world
Minimum Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Media/Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience managing or creating content for social media (personal, club, team, school, or professional accounts all count — please share examples or a portfolio)
- Based in the Chicago, IL area; most work is remote, with reliable transportation (car preferred) for occasional in-person work
- Available part-time (~10–20 hours/week) this summer
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Personal background in athletics (current or former player, team manager, or sports content creator)
- Experience with content scheduling tools (Later, Buffer, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite)
- Basic familiarity with social analytics
- Video editing skills beyond the basics
