Project Engineer - Japanese or Chinese Speaking

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support our machine sales operations by preparing accurate quotations, managing customer information, and serving as a key communication and commercial bridge between our U.S. team and SNK Japan. This is a detail-driven role at the intersection of sales, finance, procurement, and international business communication — well-suited to a candidate with a business or accounting background, strong Japanese language ability, and either established or developing skills in negotiation and supply chain coordination.

The Project Engineer plays a central part in keeping the commercial side of the business running smoothly: producing the quotations that win deals, maintaining the customer records the sales team depends on, supporting the negotiations and procurement activities that keep our cost structure competitive, and ensuring nothing is lost in translation between our U.S. customers and our Japanese engineering and manufacturing counterparts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, professional machine quotations for prospects and existing customers — including pricing, configuration details, options, lead times, and commercial terms
  • Coordinate directly with SNK Japan on configuration, pricing, and technical specifications, often in Japanese
  • Support commercial negotiations with SNK Japan and third-party suppliers regarding pricing, terms, lead times, and delivery commitments
  • Assist with the procurement of components, accessories, tooling, and third-party items required to complete machine sales and support customer projects
  • Coordinate with logistics partners, freight forwarders, and SNK Japan to track production schedules and shipping timelines for machines moving from Japan to U.S. customers
  • Maintain and organize internal customer information: CRM records, customer files, pricing histories, contact details, and project documentation
  • Support the U.S. sales team with proposals, order paperwork, and follow-up documentation through the sales cycle
  • Track open quotations and follow up with customers and internal stakeholders to keep deals moving
  • Translate or summarize commercial and technical documents between English and Japanese as needed
  • Maintain clean records to support smooth handoffs to accounting, project management, and operations
  • Help identify and improve processes for quoting accuracy, supplier coordination, and customer information management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a clear eye for detail and numerical accuracy
  • Aptitude for — or strong interest in developing skills in — business negotiations and procurement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business-level Japanese language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) — strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of, or coursework in, supply chain management, procurement, or logistics
  • Coursework, experience, or background in U.S.–business or international trade
  • Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems
  • Prior internship or work experience in sales support, sales operations, procurement, accounting, finance, or a similar function
  • Interest in or exposure to industrial manufacturing, capital equipment, or B2B sales

What We Offer

  • A genuinely bicultural work environment with direct exposure to both U.S. and Japanese business practices
  • Opportunity to develop expertise in a specialized, high-value capital equipment industry, including hands-on growth in negotiation, procurement, and international supply chain management
  • A small, collaborative team where your work has visible impact across sales, operations, and the broader SNK organization
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off
  • Career development opportunities within SNK America and across the broader SNK organization
