Music Therapist

Use music media and activities to provide a non-threatening, self-motivating experience to assist patients in relating to the immediate environment, the self, and the community. Provide an atmosphere compatible with behavioral change, self-expression, and nonverbal and verbal communications. Responsible for the direct provision of treatment services to the patient on the home unit and/or in the Treatment Mall. Provide rehabilitation services to patients within the overall scope of services, techniques, and programs authorized by the Rehabilitation Therapy Service at the Department of State Hospitals, Coalinga. Organize, plan, and provide recovery-oriented courses/groups/activities with the focus dictated by patient's objectives.

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Music Therapy, Music Education, or related field.
