The MY Denver Card provides free access to 25 of Denver's recreation centers for young people, ages 5-18, who are residents of Denver and/or attend Denver Public Schools. MY Denver exists to engage young people in structured drop-in programming through a myriad of learning and social opportunities during out-of-school time. Out-of-school time recreational programming directly contributes to academic and social development, positioning youth for present and future success. MY Denver's focus is to provide safe, supportive, quality opportunities for youth to play, learn, and grow. Activities offered in the recreation center fall into the broader categories of Sports & Wellness; Science, Technology, & Education; Urban Arts & Culture, Social Recreation; and Community Engagement.
Location & Schedule
In this position you can expect to work on site at multiple recreation centers and other locations around the City and County of Denver. This position includes working day, evening, and occasional weekend hours.
The typical 8-hour work schedule for this position will be between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
What You’ll Do
The MY Denver Program Coordinator will plan, organize, and coordinate the development and implementation of MY Denver programs, activities, and events. This position will also develop and execute marketing strategies to increase visibility and communicate opportunities within the Denver communities. MY Denver Program Coordinators love their jobs because they are directly responsible for providing enriching opportunities to youth and building relationships that positively impact the community. Furthermore, this position provides the opportunity to work directly with youth, learn new things every day, and build a diverse set of skills - all while having fun!
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Communicate and collaborate with Recreation Center Coordinators, partner organizations, or city representatives to coordinate the use of facilities and implementation of programs that have been identified through collaborative efforts to meet the needs of the community and customers
Organize, administer, and develop schedules for recreation programs, activities, and events
Recruit, hire, terminate, and train on-call employees or volunteers to achieve quality programming delivery
Purchase supplies, equipment, and materials for recreation activities, classes, and programs
Assist in the development and implementation of program policies, standards, and budgetary decisions based off recorded data
Develop program curriculum, model, training, and program resources for implementation
Perform program pre-planning duties for assigned programs, classes, and activities including written projection of costs and fees.
Coordinate with Recreation Center Coordinators to identify community and customer needs and interests, then assess program responsiveness to these interests and initiate new programming elements and enterprises, including partnerships with other community-based organizations
Review and evaluate programs for effectiveness and participation levels; analyze and use findings to increase program participation and assist in the development of new classes, activities, or programs
Engage in outreach activities to secure community acceptance and increased participation in recreation programming
Publicize recreation programs and other offerings by collaborating with DPR marketing to create and produce a strong social media presence, identify marketing strategies for program visibility and engagement.

Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Recreation Management, Education, Program Administration, or another directly related field
Experience planning, coordinating, and implementing out-of-school-time programs for youth
Experience working with youth (ages 5-18 years) in a programming or education setting
Experience managing programming at multiple sites/locations at one time
Experience working for a medium to large municipality; parks & recreation department preferred
Experience with various supervisory functions
Experience fostering and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners, providers, and organizations
Experience with research, documentation, and working with data to determine strategic goals
Experience with social media, marketing and community outreach
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of experience working in recreation, education or a closely related field.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or by the completion of probation.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
