Marketing Social Media Intern

About The Arc of the Capital Area:

The Arc of the Capital Area is currently seeking motivated and excited interns to support our marketing & social media presence. We are looking for a creative self-starter intern who is available 15-20 hrs/wk in-person/hybrid; however, we are willing to be flexible to accommodate academic schedules. This is an unpaid internship.

 

Job Duties

  • Assist with creating engaging social media content, including graphics, videos, and captions that align with The Arc’s mission.
  • Manage social media platforms by scheduling posts, responding to comments, and maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Stay informed on social media trends and tools to keep our digital presence up-to-date and engaging.
  • Track social media performance metrics and provide insights for improving engagement.
  • Collaborate with different departments to ensure their programs and stories are highlighted on our social media channels.
  • Help plan and execute social media campaigns that raise awareness for our programs, events, and fundraising efforts.
  • Support email marketing efforts by helping to create and distribute newsletters and announcements.
  • Assist with updating website content to keep program information current and accessible.
  • Promote events through social media and email to engage the community and increase participation.
  • Use design tools to create visually appealing graphics for social media, emails, and promotional materials.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in our online presence and offer recommendations for enhancing our digital strategy.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Candidates should have a basic understanding of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • They should be creative, especially when developing content ideas and visuals.
  • Strong writing skills are essential for crafting clear and engaging posts.
  • Interns should be organized, able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with simple design tools like Canva is important for creating graphics.
  • The ability to work well with others and take direction is crucial.
  • Attention to detail is needed to ensure accuracy and consistency in messaging.
  • Candidates should be eager to learn, open to feedback, and stay current with trends.
  • Effective time management and a commitment to 15-20 hours a week are necessary.
  • They should have a passion for marketing and social media, and enthusiasm for promoting nonprofit causes like The Arc’s mission.
