Fall 2026 Interior Design Co-op
SUMMARY
As an Interior Design Intern with Goodrich, you will assist our interior design team as they create designs and presentations for a variety of hospitality projects, including hotels and restaurants. Depending on your skills, you may also contribute to branding, graphic design, and product design initiatives. This is both a Creative and a Production/Technical role, and you will report to the Design Lead for each project. You will collaborate with Design Leads who are primarily responsible for setting the design direction and overall project management.
TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Design
- Collaborate with the Design Director and/or Design Leads in creating designs and delivering presentations based on deliverables set forth in the contract and the Company’s production standards. You will be expected to complete the following tasks independently, contributing your work to the overall project team’s effort:
- Primary responsibilities:
- Order material samples for projects
- Tracking what has been ordered and follow up as needed
- Label material samples
- Re-fie materials in the Library when needed
- Communicate frequently with vendors and manufacturers, via email and phone to request samples, product information or pricing.
- Depending on your skills and the needs in the studio, you may also be asked to:
- Create 3D models in SketchUp
- Render elevations in Photoshop
- Create mood boards in Adobe InDesign
- Create drawings (plans, elevations, RCPs) in AutoCAD LT
- Hand sketch to convey design concepts
- Conduct narrative research
- Pull research images
- Source materials and furniture appropriate to the use/location and within the project budget
Documentation
- Update the following created by others:
- SD, DD, and CD Drawings in AutoCAD LT
- Finish schedules
- FF&E matrix for hotel projects with multiple room types
- Furniture, finish, and equipment (FF&E) specifications in DesignSpec
GOALS & EXPECTATIONS
- Our goal is to support your growth as a designer in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary studio environment.
- We expect that you are fluent with the software programs listed under Technical Skills. We will provide in-house, on-the-job training for DesignSpec if needed.
- We expect that you will complete assigned tasks within project budgeted hours
- We expect that you will keep the Design Lead(s) updated with daily morning and end-of-day check-ins on your progress, so tasks and workloads can be re-balanced when needed
- We expect that you will follow the Company’s standards for project execution, including file naming and established work processes
- We expect that you will take initiative and ownership for your given tasks, be responsible, and ask questions when needed and in a timely manner
- This role contributes to the Company as a whole and toward client satisfaction by helping the team provide deliverables on time and at a high level of professional quality
Physical Demands
- Walk to product showrooms, climb stairs, carry up to 50 lbs.
Travel Requirements
- No travel anticipated.

Knowledge
- Basic understanding of the interior design process and phases of design
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and other documents that convey interior design intent
- Vendors and sources for furniture and interior architectural materials that are appropriate for hospitality projects
Technical Skills
- Ability to translate design concepts into concrete materials and furniture selections.
- Proficiency (can use without help) in all of the following:
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Docs,
- Familiarity (have used but may need some help) in the following:
- AutoCAD,
- Sketch-Up,
- Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop),
- DesignSpec or other specification software
- Hand sketching
- English language
Education, Licensure or Certification
- Interior design degree or certificate in progress
Experience - Preferred
- Previous interior design internship
- Hospitality design
- Sourcing FF&E and interior finish materials for hospitality projects
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary & Benefits
- Pay: $880 per week
- This position is not eligible for Company benefits.
Work Environment
- The team currently follows a hybrid schedule: Mon & Fri are remote days, Tuesday – Thursday the team is in- studio, in-person.
- This position must report to the studio in person all Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You may also be required to report to the studio in person on Mondays & Fridays, depending on project needs.
