Founded in 2017, the Minnesota Blue Ox compete in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) and have rapidly established a reputation for excellence, earning three National Tournament appearances and advancing more than 45 players to collegiate hockey programs. Position Summary
The Gameday Operations Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of gameday operations for the Minnesota Blue Ox Junior Hockey Team. This role ensures a smooth, professional, and engaging experience for fans, players, coaches, officials, and staff. This role will oversee pre-game setup, in-game logistics, fan engagement activities, and post-game tear-down, serving as the primary point of contact for operational needs during home games.
Key Responsibilities
Gameday Operations & Logistics
- Review and gain an understanding of existing Gameday tasks and priorities, in addition to roles and responsibilities of volunteers.
- Coordinate and schedule gameday staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Conduct check-ins the day before games to confirm gameday staff/volunteers will be present and prepared for their dedicated task.
- Oversee arena setup including signage, sponsorship materials, merchandise tables, music, lighting, and game presentation equipment.
- Manage post-game breakdown and cleanup of all gameday equipment and materials
- Ensure compliance with arena and league regulations regarding safety, security, professional conduct and operations.
Fan Experience
- Vital resource with a positive and engaging focus on fan experience.
- Assist in executing fan engagement initiatives, promotions, and intermission activities.
- Support the mascot and promotional team in delivering an entertaining atmosphere.
- Troubleshoot and represent a “Stay Above the Line” approach to diffuse fan issues or concerns in a professional, service-oriented manner.
- Help maintain a welcoming, family-friendly environment throughout the arena.
Team & Game Personnel Support
- Serve as the point of contact for coaches, referees, and league officials regarding gameday logistics.
- Ensure each coaches have sent their line-charts for each via email or hard copy to be printed for broadcast team, coaches and fans
- Prepare and distribute game sheets, scorecards, and other official materials.
- Coordinate locker room supplies such as water, towels, and game-day amenities for both teams and officials.
- Monitor bench and penalty box areas to ensure they are properly stocked and organized.
Technology & Game Presentation
- Coordinate with scorekeepers and timekeepers to ensure accurate and timely recording of game details.
Administrative & Communication Duties
- Maintain inventory of gameday supplies and order replacements as needed.
- Provide post-game reports to management on operational successes and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with marketing, sponsorship, and merchandise teams to ensure seamless integration of promotions into gameday activities.
- Assist with special events such as youth hockey nights, charity games, or theme nights.
Qualifications
- A love for Hockey and Hockey Fans of all ages
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform manual tasks related to setup and teardown.
- Knowledge of hockey operations and familiarity with ice rink facilities is a plus.
