Teach4Purpose Tutoring is a literacy-focused tutoring company dedicated to helping elementary students become confident, capable readers. We provide personalized, engaging instruction that helps scholars strengthen foundational reading skills, improve comprehension, and build academic confidence.
We are seeking passionate and reliable Reading Tutors to provide one-on-one virtual instruction to elementary students in grades 2–5.
Position Overview
As a Virtual Reading Tutor, you will deliver individualized virtual reading instruction aligned with each scholar's learning goals. Tutors will utilize provided lesson materials, student data, and instructional resources to support reading growth in a positive and engaging environment.
This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about literacy, enjoy working one-on-one with students, and can create meaningful learning experiences in a virtual setting.
Responsibilities
Instruction
- Provide engaging one-on-one virtual reading tutoring sessions.
- Reading comprehension
- Fluency
- Vocabulary development
- Phonics/decoding
- Reading Skills & Strategies
- Constructed Responses (R.A.C.E. Strategy)
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs and skill levels.
- Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Progress Monitoring
- Review student data and instructional goals before sessions.
- Monitor student progress and document session notes.
- Communicate concerns, successes, and recommendations to the T4P team.
- Participate in periodic training and coaching meetings as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled sessions.
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students and families.
- Follow Teach4Purpose Tutoring policies and instructional expectations.
- Protect student confidentiality and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field OR currently enrolled in an Education program.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (grades 2–5).
- Strong knowledge of reading instruction and literacy development.
- Reliable internet connection and access to a computer with a webcam.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
Preferred
- Current or former classroom teacher.
- Reading endorsement or literacy-related certification.
- Experience providing virtual instruction.
- Experience using assessment data to drive instruction.
Schedule & Hours
- Flexible scheduling based on tutor availability and student enrollment.
- Primarily after-school and evening hours.
- Typical tutoring hours: Monday–Friday 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST
- Contractors may work anywhere from 2–15 hours per week, depending on availability and student assignments.
