Capture the Spirit of Summer: Video Intern at Surprise Lake Camp
About Surprise Lake Camp: Surprise Lake Camp, the longest-running Jewish sleepaway camp in the US, is looking for a creative and energetic media intern to join our team this summer! You'll be responsible for capturing video footage of the unforgettable spirit of Surprise Lake Camp and editing and generating video content.
What You'll Do:
Become a Camp Insider: Become familiar with SLC’s “voice” and style.
Be a Video Storytelling Pro: Immerse yourself in the Surprise Lake Camp experience by attending camp activities and events. Shoot and edit high-quality video content on DSLR camera that showcases the fun, friendships, and excitement of camp life.
Make the Magic Happen: Be outgoing and willing to engage campers and staff to help you tell your story.
Edit Like a Boss: Transform your footage into captivating long-form videos for YouTube, as well as shorter videos for social media posts optimized for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Content Brainstorming Champion: Help us develop creative content ideas that will resonate with our audiences, keep a steady pipeline of ideas and videos in progress, producing 7–8 short videos per week (around 60 seconds each).
Camp Photography: You’ll also participate in our photography rotation along with the rest of our media team.
Who You Are:
- A college student (rising junior or senior) pursuing a degree in Video or Digital Communications, or a related field (ideally with a love for summer camp!).
- A passionate and creative individual with a knack for digital storytelling.
- Proficient in video editing software and comfortable with various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
- A keen eye for detail with a strong understanding of visual aesthetics. • An organized individual with the ability to manage content on a Digital Asset Management platform.
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to live on-site and work six (6) days a week while camp is in session, (roughly June 18-Aug 23)
Bonus Points:
- Experience creating content for specific target audiences (parents, staff, alumni, campers, donors).
- Knowledge of Jewish camp culture is a plus!
- Adaptability and willingness to learn
What We Offer:
Paid Summer Internship: Gain valuable experience while working at a renowned summer camp. We provide a seasonal stipend (around $2,700 based on age and experience).
Summer Room & Board: Camp provides housing and all meals (kosher) at our location 60 miles north of NYC.
