Event Services Intern
Position Overview
The Event Services Intern will support the Event Services team in planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of conventions, meetings, and special events hosted at MCCA venues. This internship offers hands-on experience in event operations, client services, and venue management in a fast-paced, professional environment.
In addition to daily responsibilities, the intern will take ownership of several key projects throughout the summer designed to provide deeper exposure to event planning processes and contribute meaningful improvements to team operations. The intern will also gain exposure to multiple departments within the Authority to better understand how cross-functional teams collaborate to deliver successful events.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist Event Managers with day-to-day coordination of assigned events from pre-planning through execution and post-event wrap-up
· Get a deep understanding of what goes into the development and distribution of event orders, schedules, and operational documents
· Participate in client meetings, site visits, and internal planning sessions
· Shadow event services as they coordinate with internal departments (e.g., operations, security, technology services, and catering) to ensure seamless event execution
· Help monitor event activities on-site to ensure compliance with venue policies and client expectations
· Assist with logistics such as room setups
· Shadow Event Managers as they conduct post-event evaluations and assist in preparing summary reports
Summer Projects:
Throughout the internship, the intern will complete several structured projects, which may include:
· Conducting research and presenting recommendations on industry trends, sustainability practices, or client experience enhancements
· Supporting the planning and execution of a small-scale internal or client-facing event
· Completing a final project and presentation summarizing key learnings and contributions
Learning Opportunities:
· Gain exposure to large-scale event planning and venue operations

· Learn how to interpret event contracts, floor plans, and service orders
· Understand coordination between multiple stakeholders in live event environments
· Gain insight into the roles and functions of various MCCA departments such as Operations, Public Safety, Technology Services, Sales, and Marketing
Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Hospitality, Event Management, Business, Communications, or a related field
· Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred Skills:
· Prior internship or experience in events, hospitality, or customer service
· Interest in large-scale conventions, trade shows, or corporate events
· Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Compensation:
